Key West’s backcountry is dotted with sandbars — shallow spots where the water turns warm and turquoise and you can stand waist-deep far from shore. They’re the heart of a Key West day on the water, and the reason we’re the home of the original Key West Sandbar Charter.
What makes a great sandbar day: calm, clear, shallow water for swimming and floating; nearby patch reefs for snorkeling; and space to relax away from the crowds. Because conditions change day to day with wind and tide, the “best” sandbar is really whichever one is clearest and calmest that afternoon — which is exactly why a local captain matters. Ours know where to point the boat so you get the good water, not a guess.
What to do once you’re there: swim and float, snorkel the nearby reefs (gear included), watch for dolphins in the backcountry, fish or hunt lobster in season, or just soak up the sun with your group. Trips are private, so you set the pace.
The easiest way to experience it is a private sandbar charter — or, to keep it affordable, a shared sandbar charter at $135/person. Call or text us and we’ll build the day around your group.
